As a young child I watched my parents run in attempt to lose weight and live healthy lives. I would attend meet ups and races with them. This exposure helped me find a love for running early in my life. My first real team and racing experience took place for my local junior high in 7th grade. I started at the bottom of the team my 7th grade year and decided to dedicate all my free time to getting better. Now a senior in high school, I have progressed to be the fastest distance runner in the school. I have learned that by setting goals and disciplining myself, I can achieve things I may have thought to be impossible. One goal of mine was to be a top finisher in our region championships. I achieved this goal, taking 2nd place and qualifying for the state championships individually. I hope to graduate high school with the 3.95 GPA I have held during my high school career. Joining a small team in a small town helped me gain leadership skills and understand the importance of a tight knit team.
