I’ve been running since I was 10 years old, and I’ve always wanted to keep competing and moving to the next level. I understand that my abilities and work have given me a great opportunity to try and compete at the college level and I’m willing to work hard to make the most of that opportunity.
I’ve trained hard year-round since I was 12, but have never run more than 55 miles in a week. I trust in coaches to teach me and help me be the best person and runner that I can be, but I like to be involved in planning my training. I competed in the 2015 and 2016 USATF Junior Olympic Nationals, and placed in the top 100 in the 13-14 year old race in 2015. I recently competed in and won the 2019 3A Region 12 Championships in a personal record 15:43 for 3 miles. I have been a team captain for three years and do my best to lead by example both in the classroom and at practices. I was lucky enough to have great captians as role models for me during my middle school and high school career and I have tried to be a similar example for my team.
In the classroom I have worked hard to maintain high academic standards and to keep my grades at the highest level while competing in sports. As a team captain I have been involved in setting up team volunteer opportunities with the local animal shelter and with a local running company. I am a member of the National Honor Society and have volunteered for a variety of groups over the past several years.
I want to find a college that is a good fit for me, allowing me to push my limits both as a student and a runner at the highest possible level I can achieve. I hope to continue to grow as a person and become someone that my family, friends and peers can respect and trust.
