I've been in sports my entire life. I played soccer at a high level, am an accomplished big mountain skier, and have experienced football, basketball, and virtually every event in track and field and thoroughly enjoyed time in a gymnastics program for a few years. The common theme through all those is that I enjoy working hard and trying to take things to the next level. Unfortunately I was a late to sprinting and even later to jumping. I'm a bit young in my grade and didnt start showing promise in the track events until I was nearly 16, which has been my devoted sport since - Im trying to apply all my athletic abilities to be as fast and jump as far as I can. I believe I have a lot of room to continue to improve and am willing to put in the work, and all that makes me an excellent candidate for a college sports program. I make sure I work extra every day - its become who I am, be it lifting, working with a private coach, running hills, or in the gym by myself.
Pls follow my profile. I realize I dont have a lot of history/meets, but I am running often and have some fairly recent times and distances. Since I didn't start sprinting until the end of the season my sophomore year, and then lost my Jr year indoor season to injury and the outdoor season to Covid, Ill be trying to find meets and get involved even though most stuff is shut down or requires qualifying times I havent had the chance to try for.
Once I'm on a team I believe many of my qualities will allow me to contribute to the team and continue to improve. For example, I love to learn and work hard. I didnt just learn to lift, but I enjoyed learning about the proper techniques and form required to be safe and get the most out of it. I enjoy spending extra time in the weight room and also helping others be safe while lifting - Ive helped many kids on my teams over the years learn to lift properly. I didnt stop there though, I enjoyed learning about nutrition and how it supports the work, as well as recovery, and even took those further and started leaning to cook and taking EMR classes which led to me getting certified in backcountry recovery and science for winter sports. In short I'm all in on multiple levels, not just on the track.
Lastly Im a great candidate because of my academics. While my gpa is good, it could be considered fairly tame. However, there are a lot of ap, dual enrollment, and honors in there to go with attending 4 high schools. I pride myself on my abilities in the classroom, and having taken many college courses now, I'm confident that will continue for me at the next level so a coach won't have to worry about me in that department.
In closing I want to give you a little info about me off the track and out of the classroom. Im a very relaxed person and try to enjoy life, but know it comes from hard work. In my spare time I'm an accomplished hunter. My favorite job is training dogs - everything from protection dogs to those trained to help the physically and mentally disadvantaged and with medical needs. And when I can find the time, I enjoy working on my car and spending time outdoors.
