I have a great passion of running track at the collegiate level. I’ve worked hard at improving my technique over the hurdles as well as developing my speed and power out of the blocks. I also stay consistent and focused throughout practice and workouts, in order to improve running, jumping, and hurdling form. Throughout my high school career, I have been fortunate enough to be a part of a successful track program at South Lakes High. I feel that the comradery between my teammates and I, as well as my coaches, helped improve our success, as we competed as a team, for each other, rather than for ourselves. And, I believe that this experience has helped me grow as a person, and learn the importance of teamwork, commitment, and leadership. In my early years of high school I was also given the opportunity to witness the work-ethic and leadership of fellow teammates that have now moved on to run at prestigious division 1 schools. Therefore, I know what it takes to be successful, and a vital leader on a team, as I now take over the role of being a leader and a role model for new members on the team.
Furthermore, I view myself as a tenacious and driven athlete, as I do not miss practices and I continuously push myself to be better at what I do. I am coachable as I love to communicate and be pushed by other teammates. I enjoy taking criticism because I know that I can be better everyday. I keep a positive attitude in difficult situations, as I always look for the positives and learn from my mistakes. I’ve also placed at many conference, regional, and state meets, as well as been successful in both the 55mH and 110mH, short sprints, and the horizontal jumps. I love the “big stage” and the pressure fuels me to perform better. I also work hard in the classroom, as I currently have a 4.31 weighted GPA , going into my junior year. I know that I not only have the skill to compete for a college team, but I also have the work-ethic, persona, and leadership skills to make an immediate and beneficial impact on your program. I am not afraid of the competition and the challenge, and I'm excited to take my talent to the next level!
