In the winter of my Junior year of high school, I volunteered as one of three to try pole vaulting. Ever since that day, I have loved the event and dedicated much of my life to it. My interest in the event blossomed into a goal that has fluctuated many times but persists in the back of my mind. The goal is to pole vault at the collegiate level. Over the past year, I have uncovered what it truly means to pursue such a dream. Yes, the main goal is to compete in college, but many goals have been set as a foundation first. For example, I want to, and have, become more disciplined in training, active recovery, and healthy habits. Through this, I want to become faster, stronger, and physically/mentally healthier. I want to become a better person and hold myself to manageable standards. However, most of all I want to continue to work hard and build my character, which has become very possible through pole vaulting.
