My name is Austin McCroan and I’m in the graduating class of 2026 at Monroe. I’m excited for the opportunity to compete at the collegiate level in cross country and track while working toward my 4-year degree. I specialize in the 800m (2:06) and 1600m (4:44), and this past year I qualified for the state meet in cross country. I’m proud of that accomplishment, but what really drives me is the daily work; the practices, the little improvements, and the grind that comes with chasing bigger goals.
I lead more by example than by words. I stay focused during practice, listen closely to coaching feedback, and always look for ways to get better. I know success isn’t about being the fastest right away; it’s about showing up every day, pushing myself, and constantly getting better. I also push myself academically, taking as many AP and CHS courses as I can. Balancing tough classes with training has taught me how to manage my time well, whether it’s finishing homework on long bus rides or finding extra hours late at night, I get the work done.
Running has shaped how I approach challenges both on and off the track: stay consistent, embrace the hard parts, and bring the right energy every day. I’m excited to keep pushing myself and to bring my passion, work ethic, and positivity to a college team.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
Sincerely,
Austin McCroan
