I want to be a student-athlete in college because I am a firm believer in the saying, "If you believe it, you can achieve it." I feel that this is only possible due to the strong support systems I have in my family, my friends, my church, and my school. Before I started running track, I always knew that I wanted a career that was strongly based on helping others. I have been doing research from a young age. I was always trying to plan ahead and decide what I wanted to be. I eventually settled with interests in the field of Medicine.
Once I graduate from Gonzaga Preparatory School, I want to enroll in a pre-med program and on to a medical school program. I want to be a doctor so I can make a difference in may peoples' lives -- especially the lives of children.
Because I have strong support base, I have been able to development several unique characteristics and skills that will help me succeed positively in whatever I aspire to do. These skills have especially helped me in track and field. I am able to be fully committed. Track helped me learn the meaning of hard work. It helped me see that to get to the places I wanted to get, I would have to put my trust in my coaches and believe what they were doing was the best route for me. Since track is such a big time commitment, I have learned how to greatly manage my time between sports and academics. I am who I am because of track.
