My name is Jack Kral, and I am a distance runner. I run for Kohler Senior High School in Kohler, Wisconsin. Outside of running, I believe I have an above average academic career. So far in my academic career I have completed one Honors course and I am currently taking an Honors course and an Advanced Placement course. My current goals for High School are to achieve an ACT score of 28 or higher, to earn a GPA of 3.6 or higher, and to best prepare myself for college. In college, I plan to major in Athletic Training or Physical Therapy though I have not decided on a major. I plan to attain a Bachelor’s Degree and possibly go for my Master’s Degree. I am also a part of various clubs. I compete on my local math team. I participate in my local Boy Scouts of America troop, I am a part of my school’s Madrigals, Swing Choir, Honors Choir, and Art Club.
I’ve been motivated to run by those around me, having been pushed to be the best I can be. My parents raised me to pursue my dreams, and I’ve always dreamed of the Olympics. I work year-round so that I can compete at a higher level than my opposition can. I first started to believe that in seventh grade when I started Track. I tried out for track in seventh grade and started as a long jump athlete. I never thought of myself as a distance runner until my coach entered me into one of the mile races. After my first race, I quickly started to love distance running. It was that first year that I met my first obstacle; I lost my last race in seventh grade to a student of a rival school. I learned through that year, that you have to work hard to be the best, no matter how good you believe you are. I worked throughout the off-season to beat my competitor the next season. By conquering that obstacle, I learned that there is no replacement for hard work, and I live that lesson every day. I believe my determination to outwork competitors gives me an edge against them in competition. No matter what team I run for, I will give my all and support my team. I believe that I can push myself to combat my toughest rivals and succeed in this sport. My experience as a runner has made me who I am, an athlete looking to take my passion to the next level.
