I picked the game up on the beaches of Hawaii during the summer 6th grade, before heading into Junior High for my first year of playing the sport on a team. Both of my older brothers played the game, and I was often going to watch their games at 6 years old.
Since I started learning I've developed a passion for the game that is unstoppable. I first played club during my 8th grade year, where I made Canucks, an elite club in Canada. I was playing with people who often had me beat by 2-3 years in experience, and by the end of the year I had worked hard enough to bring my skill level up to theirs. Four years later and if anything, my passion for the game and desire to improve has only gotten stronger. I average around 12 hours of straight court time training per week, and 4-6 hours in the gym, depending on whether it's a tournament weekend or not. The only obstacle in my life preventing me from training more is my school work, and working to maintain and increase my marks.
This year I'm playing in Edmonton, committing to making the three and a half hour drive to make it to every practice, and work with some of the top athletes in the province.
Looking forward past my 18U year, I would like to give myself the best possible opportunity to train, and continue to get better at the game I love, with the ultimate goal and aspiration to make Team Canada, and represent Canada in the Olympics. This lofty goal I have held front and center in my mind since my 14U year, and is a major driving force to putting in that extra effort at every possible stage of my game.
