My name is Gabriel Pearl and I am a 5'10 150 lb. Setter/Outside/Opposite. I live in San Diego, California and I moved here about a year ago from Naples, Florida. I have been playing Volleyball for about half a year, after I discovered the interest from watching professionals play on YouTube. My favorite player is Nishida Yuji because his play style interests me, and a lot of my motivation to play comes from watching him and his team play. To my knowledge, there were no boys volleyball programs in the part of Florida that I lived in, and nobody in my family were volleyball players or had even touched the sport. So I discovered my love for the sport completely on my own. I am currently Captain of the Junior Varsity team and starting setter at Del Norte High School. We just finished our season as League Champs with 11 wins and 5 losses. (Counting pre-season) Along with High School volleyball I am on the 16-1s club travel team at Seaside Volleyball Club where I am playing Setter, Outside and Opposite. I am a versatile player and my plan is to be able to play as many positions as possible so that I can be an asset to whatever team I'm playing for. When it comes to school I have a tougher time due to my ADD, so I have to work harder than most students and balance volleyball as well, so that is definitely an obstacle for me. Along with the pandemic, these are both obstacles and have made the past few years tough, especially with the pandemic lingering, we try to stay as safe as possible. I have quite a few things to juggle, but I never buckle under the pressure and I've been making tremendous progress in volleyball, by making teams that play at high levels, and being asked to join my schools Varsity team for their CIF Championship games. I haven't been playing for very long, though I've still made that progress and volleyball is now the most substantial part of my life, and I'd like to play for as long as I possibly can.
