My name is Lucas Guanes and I am a Junior at Foothill High School. Sports have been an integral part of my life. I started playing soccer at the age of 4 years old on co-ed teams. Little did I know then that I would play soccer for the next eight years. During this time I not only strengthen my skill set as an a athlete but I also learned the importance of setting goals, having self discipline, being resilient and most importantly being a team player. I played a little bit of flag football, as well as baseball for three years before I took on volleyball. While playing volleyball, I started practicing Taekwondo, a Korean martial art. I was determined to attain my black belt which took four years. I'm now dedicated to playing volleyball as I found love for the game. It makes me proud to know that I am following the footsteps of the last three generations in my family where volleyball runs in our DNA.
