Personal Statement
Hello, my name is Xavier O'Sullivan and I would make a good candidate for your team as, despite being relatively new to volleyball (starting September - October of 2019), I have made top team for my year level as well as trialing for Queensland state team (my state team in Australia). I have made immense improvement throughout my journey as a volleyball player and I am dedicated to my training both on, and off the court. I'm not afraid to be loud during the game for energy and hype, but I also listen and take on feedback from coaches and other players very well. Although my school season is only term 1 (Late January - mid March) and my club season, despite going for much longer (mid April - September), there is only one training lasting 2 hours and a game Friday night, I regularly practice by myself, as well as with brothers and cousins as much as possible (whenever they are free), as well as weekly vertical jump testing with my cousin at our local basketball court, as well as weight and plyometric training (weights 2-3 times a week and plyometrics 1-2 times a week). My hard work and passion for the sport is one of my main attributes and a reason for my progression as well as my usefulness on the team. I also strive for academic success, achieving in the top 20% in my year level of around 250 students, as well as my school being the top school in the state and 36th in the country for academics. My top subjects are, physics, chemistry, math, as well as physical education (PE). One student who graduated high school last year got accepted to play volleyball for an American college (forgot which one), I was heavily inspired and added fuel to my dreams of one day going professional and playing for Australia, and American college volleyball being the next big step.
