Personal Statement
My name is Robert Poole and I will be a 2014 graduate from St Ignatius College, Enfield, England where I have already attained 3 grade As & 2 grade Bs at AS level (Junior Year) and 11 GCSEs (Sophomore Year), 8 of which were grade A or A*.
I have only been playing volleyball since 2010 but through hard training and playing for Boswell’s Academy (English Mens National League Division 2 Champions 2012/13 season), I have already progressed through the England Cadet (U17s) team, into the England Junior squad (U19s).
I played for England Juniors in the 1st round of the European Championships in Kettering, England in January 2014 where the team made history by becoming the first England Junior team ever to qualify for the 2nd round of the competition. My personal stats put me as the no 1 attacker at the tournament !
I am currently playing as the starting opposite player (my favoured position) in my English Men's National League Div 1 team, where I have been voted MVP in 4 out of the 9 matches played so far.
At the recent UK School Games I was voted into the 'Super Six' - the six players who were recognised as "the strongest and most valued players in the Sainsbury's 2013 School Games" (as voted for by the team coaches).
In November 2012 I represented Great Britain Juniors in the Brazil School Games and the England Juniors in the European Championships in Slovakia in January 2013. I also played for England Juniors in the North European Championships in October 2013.
Attending a college in America will enable me to continue to pursue my academic studies whilst taking my volleyball career to the next level. I want to challenge myself against better players in the NCAA and I aspire to playing professionally and achieving my dream of representing my country in the Olympics and International Tournaments such as the European Championships.
