Personal Statement
I am a 6’2” volleyball player, weighing 160 lbs., from Barbados, West Indies and will graduate in the 2021 class. I have three (3) years of national experience and have been playing for six (6) years. I am dedicated to the sport of volleyball, and work extremely hard at both practices and games and I am always open to learning new techniques about the sport and learning how to analyze the game.
I can offer a high level of leadership, as I have experience doing so. I was Head Boy at my primary school and a prefect at my secondary school, where I captained the Under 15 cricket team. My most important accomplishments in volleyball so far, were being nominated as team Captain on my secondary school volleyball team. I was also Captain of the Barbados National Youth team, where we won the CAZOVA 2019 title and I won best receiver and best outside hitter at that tournament. I was a member of the Barbados National Junior team which won the CAZOVA Under 21 title in 2019. I was also a member of the 2018 first division domestic club champion’s team, who won that title after a 20 year drought.
A scholarship or financial assistance would be very important in my selection process. I am extremely impressed that I can play the sport that I love and receive a good education at the same time. I am open to attending a university that excels in Computer Science or its associated fields. I would like to play at the highest competition level possible and make an immediate impact on a team that has a need for my skills set that would be of benefit to the team.
