Personal Statement
From the age of five I have dreamt of playing volleyball at a high level. I think college volleyball is the most suitable for me because it is the best way to combine volleyball with studies, which are equally important for me. This is the reason why one and a half year ago I moved from Greece to Bournemouth,UK.I did this in order to be able to train full-time and continue my secondary education at Leaf Elite Athlete Academy. In Leaf Academy I have been training five times a week, two to four hours on the court and two hours in the gym to be the best I can be. My inspirations are to find a college at Division 1 or Division 2.
In England I play at the highest level, Super 8s for Wessex. I also compete with Leaf Academy at Student Cup. In the past I have played in Greece at the Athens regional league. I have many caps in Junior Championships(U16, U17, U18) at different age groups both in volleyball and beach volleyball.

At the academic side I have always had a fascination for business. It began when I was younger, living in my home country Greece when I successfully completed year 12 in a Greek high school, specialising in Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Whilst I enjoyed these subjects, I wanted to learn more about Business so I could learn business techniques and how the global economy works. This would help me understand Greece’s financial difficulties on a wider scale and also provide me with a new viewpoint. In order to do this, I decided to move to the UK because I recognised a great opportunity to improve my spoken English whilst learning Business Studies in an enterprising environment. Therefore, I left my family behind in Greece to take this exciting step and have embraced this life-enhancing opportunity.
I currently study A Level Business covering subjects such as management, marketing and economics which is helping me understand in greater depth how businesses operate and how and why people work together in organisational structures. In particular, I have enjoyed producing a business plan for a business of my choice, supported with a marketing plan for a product relaunch.
I also study BTEC Level 3 Creative Media course which requires me to investigate the video games industry and learn about its history, development, modelling, animation, graphics and 3D aspects. At the end of the year I will have created video game which is a challenge which I am really enjoying. For this, I need to understand and design graphics and write my own coding. I am glad I have chosen this subject as I think it is a growing industry from which I can gain useful skills, particularly for computer programming and making my own video games in the future.
