Personal Statement
Hello Coach
My name is João Pedro Arantes Ribeiro, I am 16 years old, I was born on 12/24/2005, I live in the city of São Caetano do Sul, in the State of São Paulo. My class is 2024. I've been playing volleyball since 2016 .
Here in Brazil I am starting the second year of high school (11th grade). I am Setter, a position inherited from my parents. Both were athletes, specifically Setters in professional teams in Brazil, including passing through the university national team.
In 2021, I played at Clube Centro Olímpico (under 17), which played about 30 matches on 25/5, we won the state championship of São Paulo under 17.
In this year 2022 I had a team transfer, I'm playing for Minas Tênis Clube so I had to move out of state too. i live in an apartment provided by minas tenis club with other athletes in Belo Horizonte City.
With Minas Tenis Clube, we have already competed and won the Brazilian Under 18 Volleyball Championship, in which I was elected the best player in the semi final.
At the moment we are playing the Minas Gerais State under 19 Championship with 10/10 (for now).
In November and December we still have two major national competitions, in November the Paraná Cup under 18, and in December the Brazilian Under 19 Championship.
In addition to these tournaments, we had the opportunity in June to play the SoCal Cup Showcase in Anaheim. We went with a mixed team (3 under 17 and 3 under 16 athletes), we won the first 3 games (2x0) and lost the other 3 games (all 1x2). It was great games and a great experience to be able to face great teams and experience a tournament of this size with so many courts, so many games and so much audience.
My goal is to play and study at an American university. I want to be able to combine sport and study, and I want to pursue a professional volleyball career after university. I think about studying economics, political science and government (international relations) and I am considered a good student with good grades.
I appreciate the opportunity to tell a little about my story and my goals and I'm ready to send updates about my school grades, my training and competitions here in Brazil, or any news related to my goals as a student athlete.
Sincerely, João Pedro Arantes Ribeiro.
