Personal Statement
I have played volleyball for both my Costa Rican and Thailand High School teams. I started out as an outside hitter and have since improved my all-around skills enough to be considered on my team as a strong all around player. I typically start in the middle hitter position and play all around as a defensive specialist as well. When needed I will be placed as an outside hitter.
I aspire to play volleyball in college and to study sciences, either Chemistry, Biology or Engineering. Though I have lived around the world my entire life I plan to return to the US for my undergraduate degree based primarily around my strong desire to play volleyball.
My global upbringing and strong academic foundation makes me an interesting candidate for US colleges. I am a dual citizen of the US and Mexico, fully billingual in English and Spanish and currently studying Chinese. Having grown up in drastically different contexts than my home countries, I am able to easily adapt to new challenges and I get along readily and well with others. Coaches appreciate my physical strength, commitment to solid technique, and my consistent dedication to training expectations. In games I can always be counted on to keep a clear head and to do anything necessary to help our team win.
