I first became interested in volleyball 8 years ago. I began at my grade school playing on the lowest team but decided it wasn't what I wanted to do. For the remainder of grade school, I played club and began to commit myself more to volleyball. Upon entering high school, I began having to compete with all the best players in the city for a spot and did not play much during my freshman or sophomore year. At the beginning of my junior year, I committed myself to the sport fully and made the second team for my club. I had fun with the guys but realized that I was capable of so much more than second place. During the summer of my senior year, I trained 6 days a week for up to 4 hours a day to become the best volleyball player that I can. This included vertical training, strength training, and volleyball skill development. I made the 18-1 team for my club (Cincinnati Attack) this year. This was very gratifying because it showed me that my hard work paid off. Through this, I have learned how working hard opens up a whole range of possibilities and if I continue to push myself day in and day out, I believe that I can achieve anything I set my mind to. I hope to compete at the collegiate level over the next 4 years and believe that my unparalleled work ethic, dedication to fitness and the sport itself, and my refined skills as an opposite hitter could be a tremendous asset to any team.
