Volleyball, and sports in general, are a huge part of my life. I can’t remember when I didn’t play at least one sport. I played baseball and football in grade school, football, basketball and volleyball in Junior High and now as I approach my Junior Year of High School, I play volleyball and basketball. When I’m not at practice or playing in a game or tournament, I spend my time at the YMCA or taking private lessons to enhance my capabilities.
Let me share a little history about me and volleyball. At the age of 11, I played club volleyball, and was the youngest member of a 14s team. My older brother just graduated from Saint Francis University, having played there on volleyball and academic scholarships.
As I shared earlier, I’m a diverse athlete. I’m particularly proud of being named player of the game in the regional basketball playoffs during my Sophomore Year. In volleyball my Sophomore year I made the all state team, first team all-conference, first team all section, and in my Freshman year first team all section and second team all-conference.
I’ve been fortunate to have great influences in my life: my parents, brothers, coaches and extended family. My aunt and uncle are in the local county sports hall of fame, she for volleyball and him for football. I’ve been taught from a young age about the importance of integrity and a strong work ethic.
Academics are important. During my sophomore year, I achieved high honors every semester and perfect attendance. My academic goal for high school is to finish in the top 10% of my class. Post high school, I hope to attend a good, solid college and major in a technology, science or medical field.
I strongly believe I have the framework to be a great student athlete. I understand the commitment it takes to play at the college level having watched my brother. My years of competing have taught me confidence is key, to never give up and to always believe in myself and my team. I have a very positive mindset and a genuine concern for my team members. I am looking forward to an opportunity to play volleyball at the next level.
