The whole reason I began to play water polo was my mother and my brother. I’ve always been a surfer and a swimmer, but never a polo player. I started my first summer of waterpolo club the summer before freshman year playing on a not very competitive summer team. I immediately fell in love with the sport, before I had my first speedo. My freshman year I played as a utility player in the field, scoring most of my goals off counter attacks and fast drives. Since my first season playing for Half Moon Bay High School I’ve played on both the Stanford club team in the winter and Sopen with post olympic goalie Jack Bowen in the winter and spring seasons. Fall season of 2016 I played on varsity, and I learned more about the sport than I thought possible. Coming from a very sloppy game style on JV to a very structured and progressive movement of play on varsity. I’m very excited to continue on with the sport as team captain for my school this season, and for years to come.
