Samuel Ingebritsen '14 Recruiting Profile

I have been playing water polo since the 7th grade and have been fortunate to play for Coach Tom Martinez (UCLA collegiate) at Wind & Sea (La Jolla) and Steve Traverso (UCSB collegiate) at La Jolla Country Day School.  I was All-League as a Junior and will be again as a Senior. I am also up for MVP of the League this season and I am Team Captain for the LJCDS Torreys.   

My strengths in the pool are my ability to see the entire game at all times and incorporate my teammates in the flow of the game - particulary when I am being double teamed (which is pretty much all the time).  I am often in a position to deliver passes to my teammates in positions where they have unobstructed shots on goal.  My coaches have always preached that assists are as or more valuable than the goal itself.  I score plenty of goals but take as much satisfaction in delivering a pass to an open teammate who can then deliver the goods.  

I pride myself on my defense - it is rare for someone to get the drop on me as I have a very good sense for the game given the training I have received over the years from my coaches.   My innate competitive nature drives me to "stop" my counterpart when they are moving on our goal.
