I attend Damien High School in La Verne, California. I have been playing water polo for 6 years and swimming for 9.
I play water polo for Damien High School and the club team Route 66. I swim for the club team BREA.
My swim experience has played a large part in building the speed and endurance which contributed to me making Varsity in my freshman year. I have Lettered in the 100 and 200 free at my high school with a time of 50.80 and 1:52.08 respectively.
My swim foundation has been crucial to a fast counter attack and the stamina to remain effective in the water for all 4 quarters.
I am left-handed and play on the 4/5 side, giving me an advantage over other players who play the same position. My right hand is also strong and I can use this to great effect by providing assists and goals from both hands. I read the game well and can hit a pass to anyone in the pool. My high school coach has also instilled the ability for me to defend tenaciously with a strong emphasis on pressing and driver defence.
In my junior high school season I led the team with 65 assists and contributed 27 goals.
I was voted captain of my team and used my leadership skills to bring the team together both in and out of the pool. I lead by example and seek to create an environment where my team mates flourish and are able to rely on each other. We focus not only on water polo but also on building a strong, trusting relationship with one another. In my junior year we won 3 high school tournaments, the Poly Riverside, Villa Park, and our high school ‘Baseline’ league. We also finished 4th in the very prestigious Coronado Tournament in San Diego. We also accomplished the great feat of bringing back a CIF Division 3 title for the first time at Damien since 2002.
I was voted the most improved on my team by my coaches in what I consider to be a breakout year for my waterpolo career.
To further improve my waterpolo abilities I play at the club team Route 66. This club is closely affiliated to Damien High School with many of the high school team playing here also. This helps with the building of chemistry between the players to continue to grow as a team. I am excited to keep improving as I look to take waterpolo to the next level.
I am also looking forward to a waterpolo trip with club team to Barcelona in the summer of 2023. Here I will measure myself against other players where the playing style is much different than what I am used to and use those skills I have learned overseas into league and tournament play in the future.
Academically I am committed and maintain a 4.3 GPA. I do not have a specific major in mind but interests are in the area of sports law or business.
I consider myself to be a coachable, intelligent player that can read the game and execute efficiently. I am a natural leader who leads by example and wants to see my team benefit as a unit.
I look to use these skills to be an important asset in the game of college as I look to take the next step in my career as a player.
