My name is Paolo Riverin and I'm graduate of the class of 2021 of Mira Costa High School. I play center and I have been playing water polo for the Trojan Water Polo Club since I was 9 years old. I am also part of the USAWP Olympic Development Program and was part of the Coastal Red team that took bronze at the national championship. From the very first time I played water polo, I loved the physicality of the sport and the thrill of winning as a team. As I continued playing water polo I became obsessed with improving my skills and spent many hours by myself on off days perfecting my game. My dream is to play water polo at the highest collegiate level. I am confident in my abilities and know I will make a great athletic and academic addition to any team.
My academic goal is to study computer science. I first fell in love with the topic when I took my first computer science class at Mira Costa my sophomore year. I have always like computers but when I learned how they could be used to solve modern problems and make current tasks easier, it changed my entire perspective on what they were capable of.
I currently hold a perfect 4.0 GPA and I have yet to take my SAT or ACT due to the corona-virus. However, I am scheduled to take the test in the near future. I am the current Vice President of the South Bay Food Initiative and I participate in a multitude of extracurriculars and academic programs such as National Honors Society, California Scholarship Federation, and MCHS Disaster Relief Club. I have also worked as a volunteer at the Hermosa View School Library.
