Personal Statement
My name is Pedro Ângelo, I'm 16 years old and I live in Rio de Janeiro. I'm in the second year of the High School on Pedro II, a federal institution of excellence. I have been playing water polo since I was ten because of my father, who played during all his teenage years and nowadays he is a master athlete and referee because of his love for the sport. He is a university teacher.
I have always been interested in sports, I've already practiced soccer, judo, swimming and chess before water polo. Playing sports has always been very important in my family. My mom is also an athlete, runner and swimmer, and also works at the university
I have started water polo in 2017, always in Fluminense Football Club, @wpflu on instagram. Fluminenses is the most tradicional water polo team in Brasil. We are two time Estate Champions.
Well, as Brasil isn't a water polo elite country, I'm searching for improvement in international experiences. So, this year I went to Barcelona, a very traditional water polo city, for 3 weeks during my school vacation to train there, It was an amazing experience with players e from all around the world, everybody almost on the same technical level, and between 16 and 21 years. Our official language was English.
Practicing sports is fundamental to me. It contributes to my emotional, social, academic and physical health. I believe that playing sports helps me to act better collectively, improve my focus, my discipline and to interact better with people, including my opponents.
