Personal Statement
I’ve always wanted to study in America. I know that graduating with a degree from an American university will provide me with an excellent academic grounding as the standards are amongst the highest in the world. I know that studying in America will open many doors and set me up for a prominent and exciting future. Being able to play Division I or II water polo while studying would be a dream come true. I look up to and admire the professional and more senior players around me, and to have the opportunity to train and learn from some of them would be amazing. I live, eat and sleep water polo, and I’ve worked exceptionally hard to improve my abilities throughout my career, training as much as possible, and always doing one more lap, pass, and shot than my competitors. I play to be an integral part of the team, and I aim to support and back my teammates as much as possible, whenever I can, in any way, to benefit the team as a whole. I regularly train outside the water to bulk up and put on muscle mass, as well as to become stronger and more flexible than the players around me. I watch what I eat because I strongly believe that this has a significant impact on my performance. I want to be one of the best! I’m confident that the talent I have, combined with the dedication and commitment I show to the sport, will enable me to secure a scholarship to an American university. Once there, I know I’ll succeed both academically and with my water polo. I have always put a lot of effort into both my academics and my water polo, and I understand that the level that I will have to be at, in both fields, in order to compete is of a very high standard. I’m currently achieving the standards required and believe I’ll continue to progress from strength to strength in both areas.
