Personal Statement
My name is William Clapham, and I am a seventeen year old from Surrey BC. I attend Earl Marriott Secondary, and I am in the French Immersion program. I play high performance water polo 6-7 days a week with the Fraser Valley Water Polo, coached by Mich Roy. I am entering my senior year at school and this will be my last year with my club as I will age out. One of my aspirations is to find a career in Aviation. In order to gain knowledge in that field, I completed my ground school training with Canadian Flight Center. My goal is to find a great University with a water polo team, and also to continue my education in the field of aviation. I am passionate about both of these activities, and I have invested copious amounts of time and effort in these fields. I am fluent in English and French, and some Spanish. I look forward to playing alongside a team, and it would be fantastic if I was able to find a school that could be compatible. My sport has shown me what hard work is, and its something all athletes should be proud of. Playing at an higher level would allow me to stay in great shape, and get an education. Being in good health, and having a sharp mind are 2 very important very aspects in my field of choice, and I feel as though water polo compliments both of them strongly. What separates me from other athletes is the time I have spent in both of these fields. My ground school course was 60+ hours, and my water polo was 3 hours a day , 5 days a week. I am coachable, determined and I have a lot of drive. I want to play water polo and accomplish my academic goals.
