Alberto Castañer '27 Recruiting Profile

Hi! 

My name is Alberto Castañer, and I am a 15-year-old water polo player from Puerto Rico, deeply passionate about playing water polo at the collegiate level. My journey in sports began with various activities, but none truly captivated me until I discovered water polo during the COVID-19 pandemic. Before then, I played American football, but the pandemic disrupted the league, pushing me to explore new sport avenues. This is when I found my true passion in water polo.

Since then, water polo has become an integral part of my life. I've participated in several tournaments both locally and internationally, earning gold and silver medals with my team while playing the hole position. The thrill of the game and the friendship with my teammates have solidified my love for the sport.  I'm thankful for my coaches who have brought out the best in me as an athlete and as a person. 

Academically, I am an honor roll student, consistently maintaining high grades in advanced placement classes. Balancing rigorous academics with intensive water polo training has taught me discipline, time management, and perseverance. I eagerly look forward to every game and practice session, always striving to improve my skills and contribute to my team's success.

As a Puerto Rican student-athlete, I am excited about the prospect of furthering my education and water polo career in the United States. My goal is to compete at the highest level in college water polo, contributing to a team that shares my dedication and enthusiasm for the sport.  I'm also working hard in hopes of representing Puerto Rico in the Panamerican and Central American and Caribbean games.
