Swimming is a rigorous sport that requires mental grit, determination, and discipline. Soccer is a sport which requires teamwork and tactics. Water polo combines the best of both worlds. Hi, I’m Santiago a Puerto Rican student-athlete and my dreams and top priorities are to pursue a career in engineering and play my favorite sport while doing it. I used to practice swimming at the University of Puerto Rico where I would walk every day passing a dive pool. That's when I saw two goals in the water, I was confused at first—it was a water polo team. I was intrigued by how they passed with one arm while staying afloat. So, one day I asked myself why not, after that, I couldn't get enough. It was my two favorite sports combined "soccer, and swimming". Water polo has always been an escape for me, after a hard day at school, practice is always there to cheer me up, any anger, sadness, or frustration I would take it all and use it all as fuel to make something positive out of it. This isn't just any regular sport. I consider it a lifestyle and can’t live without it.
