I was a multi-sport athlete growing up. As I got older, volleyball became my favorite sport and the one that I wanted to play in college. I played club volleyball since my sister started a club when I was in 2nd grade. My club team my senior year of high school was the first team from St. George, UT to qualify for the USAV Nationals tournament and we finished in the top 15%. I was one of the top 100 volleyball recruits my senior year, one of the top 2 setters recruited out of Utah, and was a part of USAV High Performance for our Intermountain Region and was able to play overseas a few times including in the Utah/Russia Games. I earned a full ride scholarship to Fresno State University and played there my first two seasons. I then transferred to University of Louisiana at Monroe and played there for my last two seasons. I earned Louisiana Newcomer of the Year and a All-Conference honor my Junior year. My junior year I also threw javelin for the track team and got 2nd place in our Conference Meet.
After finishing up my college eligibility, I came home and started coaching with my sister. We coached her club team, got some high school coaching opportunities that got us moving eventually back to Hawai’i. I have stopped coaching and have moved back to the mainland, but i will always remember all of the athletes that we helped get recruited through club coaching.
The most exciting and rewarding part of working for NCSA is that I get to continue to help and assist athletes and their families in the recruiting process. For me, getting recruited to a college volleyball team and earning a scholarship was a big deal, and once I started coaching it became a real passion for me to help those have the same opportunities that I did. Even as I get older, sports and teamwork is engrained in me and I love seeing and being a part of a process that helps kids achieve a dream. I am a very determined person, and I love putting that determination into helping achieve goals.
