Vanessa Garcia, Recruiting Coordinator

Biola University

As a first-generation college student, my journey through school and sports has been quite a ride. I started my volleyball career at Biola University, a Christian college that shaped who I am. Playing there for four years was more than just sports—it helped build my character and work ethic with its strong Christian values.

After graduating, I took my game internationally and played professional volleyball in Germany and Azerbaijan. This experience was eye-opening, offering me new perspectives on the sport and exposing me to different cultures and styles of play. It was a time of major growth, both on and off the court, with each new place bringing its own set of challenges and lessons.

Moving from college to professional sports was a big change, and it pushed me to improve even more. The competition was tougher, but it also taught me a lot about teamwork, resilience, and setting goals.

Now, I’m excited about my new role as a recruiting coordinator. This job is a fantastic opportunity for me to grow further and apply all the skills and experiences I’ve gained. Looking back, my path from being a first-generation college student to a professional athlete shows how far dedication and hard work can take you, and I’m eager to see where this new role will lead.
