As a student-athlete in multiple sports since the age of 4, I have always had many goals and dreams for my future self. My Main goal has always been to play Softball at the collegiate level while pursuing my degree in Nutrition. I also have always had a special place in my Heart for helping those with Special Needs. I currently assist in coaching an adaptive sports team for kids in my hometown that plays Softball/Baseball, Basketball, and football. I also have a 10-year-old brother with Autism and Erbś Palsy who plays on this team. He has definitely made an impact on my life and has been a driven force for my passion.
My Nutrition Degree aspiration all started At the age of 8 years old, While spending my summer playing Travel Softball and attending church camp, I became very ill, my mother and I knew that something wasn't right and she immediately took me to the ER where I was later taken to Childrens Hospital and diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes. At that moment I was a little scared but, I turned to my doctor and asked if this diagnosis would still allow me to play the sport I love. The Doctor turned to me and said "Leilah, you are so brave and strong and you can do anything you want to in this life, this disease doesn't define you, you define the odds that are working against you, go get ém kid¨ From that moment on, now 9 years later, I still show myself and others that through all odds, I can achieve anything that I work hard at. I am Strong, Hardworking, persistent, punctual, respectful, Team oriented, A leader, dedicated, encouraging, coachable, intellectual and driven with high morals and respect.
My current goal is to continue to work hard and strive for excellence in the classroom performing to the best of my ability as well as on the field. I want to be the best version of myself that I can be for my peers and coaches and school. I believe while focusing on these goals it will lead me to the opportunity of playing and becoming a successful collegiate softball player and student- athlete that I have always dreamed and desired to be.
