Growing up I was surrounded by sports. My athletic career began in tennis, where I developed mental toughness, resilience, and perseverance. It was my first real taste of competition. Then I got into swimming and duathlons, teaching me to push past my limits. Through basketball, I built grit and quick-thinking; plus a real understanding of heart and hustle over height. Finally, volleyball, which honed my agility skills and perception of my team, opponents, and environment. All these sports have moulded me into the softball player and person I am today. Since the day I started playing sports competitively, I have dedicated myself to breaking barriers as a teammate and athlete.
I started softball when I was ten years old after seeing a team train on the field next to the tennis courts I trained at. I went to my first lesson with the first pair of football cleats we could find and an old glove we found at the back of a closet. In spite of my lack of preparation and knowledge of the sport, I was quick to fall in love with the sport. The field became my home.
That being said, I am equally as invested in being a student-athlete. I hold my academics to a high standard and expect much from myself. I'm looking for a college that will support me both academically and on the field – I don’t think I can quite express my love for learning in and out of the classroom, as well as in my extracurriculars or community involvement.
