Reina Paysinger '21 Recruiting Profile

I am looking ahead to a college where not only do I fit in, but where I bring something special to that college campus and to the athletic department. My goal is to play competitive college softball where I can grow as a player, push myself to the limit, and most importantly contribute to the team's success. While I am in college I want to explore more about myself and the people that I will meet on my journey. I have always felt like I have lived two dueling lives, one as a minority permit student in Beverly Hills schools, where only 3% of the student body look like me and the second as a typical family living in a multi-racial neighborhood in Los Angeles. I face different struggles than most of my peers in Beverly Hills, and I have found that sports and my competitive drive have led me to the success I have accomplished thus far even in an environment that is not always embracing of an outsider. As a three sport varsity athlete I have had the luxury to be competitive and train year round. I strive to be the best at anything I come in contact with which I believe is rooted from everything that I have learned from my family. I watched my cousin work his way from college sports, to the NFL and then a career in TV, and my Uncle who started as a PE teacher and worked his way up to being a school superintendent. These stories are repeated many times over in my family and it has inspired me to keep pushing my limits  till I reach my goal.
