Hi my name is Mary Martinez and I'm a junior at Castro Valley High School in Castro valley, California. The positions I play on the field are Outfield and third base. No matter what ether on or off the field I’m always talking by the time the showcasing or softball tournament is over with I’ve lost my voice that week. One of my things I say to myself when I’m up to bat or even on the field that is no matter what you just have to have confidence in yourself and sister/team.The reason why I got in to softball was because of my mother. When I started to play was when I was in preschool I loved it then I stopped and played it a again in third grade and never stopped after that. That moment when I played in third grade for CVGSL I knew where I was supposed to be as a person and softball as a softball player. The person that has influenced me is my mother she has always been the one who's always been there for me and makes me a better person every day of my life. The definition of softball to me is family no matter what team you are on you always know they have you back like the Outfield. The biggest obstacles in my life for me is my learning disability every since third grade I've been in resource classes until I was a freshmen when I got put into mainstream classes which was a big jump for me. I have and IEP which is where I set academic goals for my self ever year and every year I'm done with it I reach my goal or even exceed them.
