I found my love for softball at a young age, after I began playing at 5 years old. I am truly right handed, and experimented with drag bunting with my all-star coach during 10u. Once I began playing travel ball in 12u, I converted to a full lefty slapper and has been one of the best decisions I could ever make. During my second year of 12u I was faced with a difficult decision. I visited an orthopedic specialist to find out that I have a coalition in both of my feet. My first orthopedic surgeon told me that surgery was the riskiest option of many and would require me to stop playing sports for good. I rejected his opinion, and found a new orthopedic surgeon; who assured me that he would do everything in his power to get me back on the field after surgery. In May of 2018, I agreed to surgery on my right foot. The healing process was long and miserable with crutches, scooters and a walking boot; but was accompanied by the love and support of everybody around me. By November 2018, I returned to a travel team and began to train and play softball. It has been over a year since my surgery and my progress has been tremendous, and the perseverance I showed is one of the best traits about myself.
In college, I strive to be part of a team where all members have the same goal. Whether it be boosting my education or winning a championship, I hope to be together to achieve success. My major is still undecided, but I do have strong interests in the medical field, psychology, criminology and engineering.
