I want to play at the next level. I have dreamt about playing softball in college since I was a little girl and I hope to make my dream come true. I am a student athlete that is also a leader on the field and off the field. I have been the varsity softball captain for the past 3 years and this year I am the Associated Student Body (ASB) president.
Growing up with an older sister who is mentally challenged allowed me to appreciate life and not take things for granted. Working hard in school and in sports was something I knew I had to do because my sister couldn’t do the same things I could because of her disability. She has come to all my games and seeing her in the stands cheering me on gives me the motivation and the drive that I must always give it my all because of her, my number one fan.
Throughout my school years I have been involved in the best buddy club. Not until high school did I take it a bit further. I participated in a team made up of students with disabilities and with out disabilities and competed in the Special Olympics in Seattle, Washington this past summer 2018. That experience allowed me to work and interact with people with different characteristics.
As I enter college I plan to study kinesiology and focus on becaming an athletic trainer and continue volunteer in events like Special Olympics.
