Hi Coach,
My name is Kaitlin Murphy, and I am entering my junior year at La Jolla High School. I have enthusiastically played softball since I was 7 years old, and I am excited and committed to the opportunities that would allow me to contribute to your sports program by playing softball in college. Throughout my early years playing for recreational leagues, I have assisted my teams in reaching regional championships as a starting first baseman. Upon entering La Holla High School as a freshman, I earned a spot on the varsity team playing first base and have since transitioned into a starting third-base position. I have earned multiple awards during the two years I have participated at the high school level, including all league and rookie of the year, along with being ranked as the number one freshman first baseman in the country in 2021. In addition to playing softball, I enjoy mountain and ocean sports. Since I was 5 I have been active in skiing and surfing which are two sports that my dad really enjoys and taught me how to do. I also place a high value on my friends and family. At La Jolla High, my friends and I participated in the U-TOUCH club where we raised money to help support people in Uganda. In the past year we were able to help raise about 25,000 dollars to help those who are living in extreme poverty in Uganda and Ukraine. My family are avid travelers who believe that travel provides a depth of education, learning and experience that helps to create more open-minded and socially- and environmentally- conscious citizens. I have seen first hand through my travels to Costa Rica and Mexico the challenges that face our country and our world. And I am committed to doing what I can to create a better environment for all, whether on the softball field, in the classroom, or at home. I also like to push myself in academics, by taking advanced and AP classes throughout my high school career. The subjects that I excel in are mathematics however I have an interest in pursuing law later as well. I am excited to find a school where I can continue to advance my academics, while contributing to the softball team's success and advancement.
I look forward to meeting you!
