Personal Statement

My name is Marissa Wood and I am a 5'2" catcher from Modesto, California. I am currently attending Peter Johansen High School. My first "real" softball experience started on an 8 and under recreational league. After a few seasons of soccer, I was asked to play on a travel softball team; Spyce. I have guest played for various other teams between seasons and currently the starting catcher for the Oakdale Lady Rebels.

In elementary school, I enjoyed attending student council meetings as a class representative. I have been elected Secretary, Vice President, and President in the past years. I love volunteering at the Special Needs Ball, hosted by the Society for Disabilities. I have co-trained a canine companion puppy, which will hopefully be of assistance to the disabled in the future.

While I would like to go to school along the east or west coast for the beaches and/or mountain ranges, I wouldn't mind attending somewhere with snow fall or in the central United States. I am open for going to any school whether it be big or small, just as long as they offer psychology or journalism majors. I hope to play four years of softball at any level/division with high academics and continue to give it my all in order to accomplish this goal.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
