My name is Hailey Petrycki and I am a 5'10 utility/outfielder player from San Diego, California. I graduate in the class of 2021 and have played softball since I was seven years old. I had fallen in love with the sport very quickly but not until I learned to play every position, especially outfield and third base. If it wasn’t for softball I wouldn’t have found out that I have a medical condition called plantar fasciitis, but it still hasn’t stopped me. My freshman year of high school my medical condition did put me in a cast for half of my season for softball. However, I still committed to the team and became my team's manager and helped the coach out with all practices and games, by time I was able to get back into the game when my cast came off I knew what the coaches liked to be done, what was expected and even knew how to help out the girls, in which I was able to help the coaches out as well as the girls. My sophomore year I was the Junior Varsity as team Captain, in which I learned leadership and earned the trust of all my teammates and coaches. From my junior year to now I have played on our varsity team and I am proud to say through these years I have learned so much from everyone. In which,I want to pursue playing the game beyond my high school years. I aspire to play softball at the collegiate level. Softball has inspired me, influenced me and has shaped me into who I am today. It has taught me perseverance, resilient, dedication, how to overcome obstacles, but as well as teamwork. I have become dedicated to the game year-round in all aspects of softball, not only playing outfield or wherever the coach needs me, but hitting, fielding, and base running. I am very focused on my goals and have worked hard to understand the game, getting me to where I am today.
In addition to softball, academics are also of high importance to me. I want to attend a college that will challenge me academically as well as one that helps me down a path to pursue a promising and a lifetime dream career of mine. Pre Med to become a surgeon is where my interests lie in a future career and always has. The idea of helping others and being hands on has always been a must for me and that is why I am very persistent on becoming a surgeon to be more specific a trauma surgeon. Ever since I was little I always held straight A’s sometimes there would be a few B’s I will admit, but I never let my grades slip below an 85%. I enrolled myself in advanced, honors, AP, and even college classes that my school provided and hold a 3.7 or higher GPA unweighted every year. I have made my school's honor roll from middle school to high school. School has taught me important lessons that can also be applied to softball, such as working hard, helping others, and being mentally tough to deal with challenges. In both school and softball, I am highly competitive in trying my best and being one of the top in my class as well as my level of skill. I am not only a strong academic candidate but also an athlete who is highly coachable, competitive, and a team player, that will no doubt add value to your school. I would like to stay in California for college as it is close to my family and job, however, I am very willing to travel further for college. So, you will not only be recruiting an elite athlete, but you will also be recruiting an elite student that will represent your team and university well in all aspects!
(I understand I do not have very many videos upload at the moment, COVID 19 has been difficult for me and my family for personal reasons along with my fathers jobs. I will hopefully have some more to post soon! I am also willing to do a video call and show my skills that way as well if you are interested.)
