Not only is softball a part of my life, but also my education. My education is what has given me the special opportunity to play softball because it has opened many doors. In addition, to my education I wish to pursue a mechanical engineering degree because it incorporates the idea of how machines function. Softball not only physical but most importantly a mental exercise that requires communication, teamwork, dedication, and much more.
While playing softball, I have learned that the basis of the game is reliant on fundamentals. Theoretically, the fundamentals of softball function as a machine or an artificial intelligence. The ability to rely on past skills and decisions to determine a choice; softball is a single game with many outcomes, but established by fundamental basis. Reflecting on machines, a team functions as an assembly line, each particular machine within the line has a different purpose and task. As each task/purpose is completed the assembly line functions successfully and fluently. Achieving success is done with communication primarily and the act of helping/assisting each other.
Softball has provided me with intriguing life lessons that no other sport or activity could have done. The opportunity is given by my education and willingness to pursue those gifts bestowed before me.
