I believe perseverance is a trait that is critical to all areas of life. Each time I step on the field, I see it not only as an opportunity to use my strong skills as an athlete, but also as a time about how I can learn to improve. I see my team as a community where each of us brings a skill set and works collaboratively to achieve a goal. As team captain, I encourage each member to be at her best which reminds me to keep me at mine. I use this kind of grit and attitude with my academics as well. I have had a 4.0 GPA since fourth grade, received many academic awards in middle school, and I am currently taking honors classes at my high school. I believe it is my dedication and drive that have helped me become such a strong softball player as well as a high achieving student. I am constantly working on expecting improvement from myself instead of expecting perfection. Softball is a game of strategy, and I love every minute of it.
