Since I could remember, I have always loved softball. No other activity or sport caught my attention more than softball. As much as I love the exciting thrill that softball brings, I also love the challenge it presents me. It pushes me to bring my “A-Game” to the diamond.
If I was to describe my “A-Game” with two "a" words—without hesitation, I would say ‘aggressive’ and ‘assertive.’ I work really hard to become stronger and better. In this way, I am wholeheartedly dedicated to the sport. I attend practice 5-6 times a week, in which I set personal goals such as a minimum of 100 pitches each session. I do not limit myself to the position of a pitcher and instead I also aim to spend 30 minutes batting at least 3 times a week. I also commit 3 hours of exercise to running, strength training and other anaerobic exercises per week.
Meanwhile, I devote myself to school work. I strive to meet the deadlines of my advanced classes with 15 hours of week carved out for homework on top of the 6-7 hours per week for softball. Nonetheless, my time management skills have allowed me to put my best effort into my studies. As a result, I have developed a strong passion for writing, science and history. These academic passions of mine have inspired me to pursue a bachelor of sciences at a university that will also support my athletic career.
While aspiring to my best performance, I am looking for a balance between education and strengthening my softball skills. That is my long-term goal. My short-term goal is to find a university that will encourage this balance. I am confident that the right fit will allow me to flourish and to achieve both these goals.
