My name I Katherine Costanzo but most of my coaches and teammates call me Kat. I am a second baseman as well as an outfielder. I have been playing softball my entire life and I have always loved every aspect of it, especially the thrill I get while I am playing and the amazing connections I have made with coaches and my teammates throughout the years. A big goal of mine is to play softball in college because I have so much fun playing and want to continue to do something that I love. Softball and the other sports I play have always had a big influence on my life because that is what I enjoy doing and I want to get better and put in the work to do so.
I have learned a lot about myself throughout the years that I have been playing softball. One big aspect is that I will always be working to improve in one way or another. I am currently working to make sure that I am using all of my power when I swing, getting faster on the basepath, timing when I need to dive in order to get the ball, and so on. I have always worked so hard to improve not only in softball but almost in everything I do. I worked extremely hard to make Varisty field hockey my junior year, to break a world record in powerlifting, as well as in school. I am always pushing myself to try and get better at almost everything that I do.
In addition, I had to overcome a lot of obstacles to get where I am today but I learn from all the mistakes I make during games and I am always asking my coaches how to fix an error I made or what I should do next time. I have also been working with my mind while I am playing to make sure that I am confident when I walk up to the plate and that I am going to stay composed. I have a mental routine that I will do when I am in the hole, on deck, and while I am up at-bat that has really helped me improve with my batting. One more thing that I had to overcome was being small as I have always been the smallest on most of my teams. To make up for this, I made sure that I could be fast with my hands when batting, fielding, and running. I also made sure that I could be powerful and strong.
