Team Captain, Senior Scholar Athlete Award Recipient, All Stars player
My dream is to play softball in college, but then again, so do a lot of other girls. The difference between me and them is heart. I have played on teams where we would win all the time. I have also played on teams that would mostly lose. Do you know how demoralizing a season of losing can be? That shows you what a player is really made of. Not once did my heart waver in a losing season. I never gave up, no matter how bad or great we were winning/losing. A lot of girls have only been on winning teams, meaning their heart has never been truly tested. Even though I have been on teams where we were skunked almost every game, that did not matter to me. My will was forged in defeat and I came back for more. I have always believed we could push through and win, even down zero to eight, and I have helped lead some amazing comebacks. My heart for this game is incomparable to others. This sport is my heart.
