Personal Statement

Hi my name is Alyssa Opsahl. I am 16 years old and will be graduating in 2020. I've been playing softball since I was 4. My softball career started out in our local rec ball league. At 8 years old I started playing travel ball for Crossfire 02. I've been playing competitively since then. I absolutely love the game of softball. I love being a part of team and playing the game I love. My dream is to play ball at the college level. I understand that hard work on and off the field is important. I have maintained a 3.8 GPA thru my junior year. I am currently enrolled in honors classes at Charlotte High School. I am very interested in the medical field, nursing or radiology are my goals. I feel that I would be a great addition to any collegiate team. My starting position is 3rd base but I also play short stop, 2nd base, left and right field. I feel that I can be a very versatile addition to any team. Most importantly I LOVE this game. I understand the hard work you have to put in but to also enjoy the game. I am very excited to play at Charlotte High School and being a 3rd generation student there. I hope to succeed on and off the field!

Evaluation from event: 20 yd dash: 3.6. Raw Velocity: 54 mph. Defense: Has good body control. Keeps her hands out in front of her body well. Takes good angles to the ball. Is very consistent, makes good accurate throws. Has good carry on the ball. Continue to work on developing a pre pitch-move feet before pitch is being throw,. Also work on better double play feeds to second. Hitting: Has a good setup in the box. Has a good load with her hands and body. Displays good box presence and has a strong base. Needs to work on being more balanced at the plate. Also needs to stay direct to the ball-goes out and around and casts her hands. Work on using lower half more at the plate
