Candice Thornton '26 Recruiting Profile

Hey! I'm Candice Thornton, a teenage girl with a passion for softball and my faith. From the time I step out of bed in the morning, to the time I lay back down, I put in 100%. Whether it's becoming a better student, sister, daughter or athlete, I never shy away from a good challenge.

On and off the field, many would describe me as dedicated and hard working at everything I do. I am always open to criticism in hopes of bettering myself for the good of the team. Softball is not just an individual effort, it requires teamwork. This means having confidence not only in yourself, but also in your teammates to get the job done. I have been recognized as a great teammate by coaches, for uplifting others even when I have failed to perform to the best of my ability.

What makes me who I am, you ask? I am made by my family, they are my greatest supporters! Helping shape me into the athlete I am today, I have so many wonderful teammates and coaches who have stood by my side no matter the circumstances. I have faced a few conflicts and adversities in my past that have driven me to be who I am, as well.

Not only have I been known to excel on the field, but also in the classroom as a student. In 2021, I was awarded for having the highest academic average on the Lady Jackets softball team. I have plans to start dual enrollment in the fall to knock out some college credits. I have also been able to maintain more than a 4.0 GPA for the current school year, while taking several AP courses. I have proven that it is no challenge for me to juggle achieving high academics with being a student athlete.
