Ever since I was a little girl, I have always thought about what I want to be. An interior designer, a sports event coordinator, or even a mental health counselor. I always thought about what college I would be interested in as well. I have finally picked what career path I want to pursue, but I’m still looking for a college that is the perfect fit for my desired major of sports management, and my desire to play the game of softball.
I consider myself blessed to have been surrounded by people to support me and encourage me to succeed in my life. From being a loving, caring, smart, funny, young lady to a serious, hardworking, dedicated softball player, I can say it all started from a young age. I grew up with two older sisters who were very into the game from a very young age. Both my sisters helped me learn the game from the time I could play, and they inspired me to be the player I am today. The thrill of softball has always been in my life. I could sense I was born to play the game.
Now I ask myself this question: Why would a college want me? I would like to say that my leadership and determination for success sets me apart from the other talented players. I am known for being a positive reinforcement for my teammates. Not only am I a knowledgeable player, I am versatile in positions. My number one favorite position is outfield. I love how comfortable I feel there. Outfield to me is a position that changes the game. I believe that you are the last line of defense. No one else is there to fix your mistake. My number two position is catching. I have been catching since I started softball. I have only improved and have become a smart aggressive catcher from the years of experience and practice. I love how I can control the game with my voice and the grip of the ball. My third favorite position is second. I show confidence that I will get every single ball that comes to me. I also enjoy the challenge that comes with it.
I have a warm personality and I’m very easy to talk to. I love that as I play the umps and the other teams coaches will walk over to compliment me on plays that I have made. Ways that I get chances to improve and learn is that other teams and coaches will reach out to me to help fill in. It’s amazing to see how other coaches approach the game, and how other teams work together. Everytime I am asked to help I jump on the opportunity for the knowledge and connections I know I will receive.
Academically I have a 3.8 GPA, which I am always striving to do better. I am never satisfied with anything. Studying more or practicing harder is what I push myself to do to improve. At my high school, I have been able to help coach younger girls at clinics. I enjoyed guiding them to do better. Also, I enjoyed being able to share my talent with younger girls to love the sport as well. It also made me see the game in my coaches eyes, which gives me a different perspective of the game I play.
In conclusion, my leadership, teamwork, mindset, determination, coachability, and the ability to play hard and never give up. I believe I will make a great addition to your team. Thank you for reading my personal statement.
