HI! Thanks for taking the time to read my profile.
My name is Cam Cornell and I will be a Senior this fall at Clinton Prairie Junior-Senior High School in Frankfort, IN.
My goal is to continue my education into Psychology or Education and to represent the school by joining the softball team as an effective Catcher, 3rd baseman and hitter.
I am a member of TN fast pitch softball, coached by Michael Johnson and the Varsity softball team at Clinton Prairie coached by Randy Cooper. I am excited to start my 7th year with my new team after my last team, Legends disbanded after being together for 3 years.
As a catcher and hitter, here are the skills I have that you can depend on me for:
1. Blocking and framing.
2. Accurate throw to the bases
3. Call pitches and have a strategy in mind for each batter based on what I can tell from their habits and swing patterns.
4. Lead and encourage the team vocally on the field by calling out plays and directing throws.
I am just as loud and encouraging from the bench backing up my teammates.
5. Lefty contact and power hitter who can also slap and bunt.
6. I work hard on the field and take the advice and criticism from my coaches to make me a better player.
7. I am comic relief for my pitcher when I need her to relax and refocus
Here are some of my High School Highlights to date.
Freshman Highlights 2017: Moved mid-season to cover third base, where my percentage of outs thrown from third base was 98.9%. I was also 3rd in the batting lineup and ended the season at .383, and was the top 5 hitters on the team. I was awarded Best Defensive Player of the season my freshman year.
Sophomore Highlights 2018: Started catcher for every game with the exception of 1 game. Ended well with .405 batting average. Had six doubles and two triples, driving in 27 runs. I had 2 walk off home runs, one being a grand slam. I was honored to be named in the following teams: Hoosier Heartland First team, All County Team, All Area Small School First Team and High School Elite North Representative.
Junior Highlights 2019: Varsity Starter, Most Valuable Offensive Player, All Conference, Hoosier Heartland First team, All County Team, All Area JC Small School First Team
My love and understanding of the game is more than just playing. It has taught me to be a fighter. To not give up in areas where it would have been so easy to do so.
I want my team to be my home away from home and to build bonds that go beyond the field. I have a competitor's heart and pride for what I can bring to the team. I am confident, I will represent the team and school well, on and off the field. I have been blessed with an opportunity and learning that my platform is not about me. I want to lead with humbleness and hope that I can be an example for young people. I am excited to show you that I am a dedicated, hardworking, fun athlete and be the team player and catcher you are looking for.
I would love the opportunity to show you what I can do!
