Over the last several years, I have been through enough tryouts and camps to realize that I am not going to be any coach's 1st choice in starting a team. I am not a Pitcher. I am not a Home Run Hitter. I am not a huge physical specimen. I am, however, the type of player that every winning team needs.
This is who I am...
* I am the Outfielder that covers bases and backs up throws when you least expect it.
* I am the Outfielder that shifts according to the pitch called and knows where to throw the ball.
* I am the Outfielder that executes the drop step, the crow hop, and gets behind the ball.
* I am the Outfielder with a strong and accurate arm.
* I am the Batter that works the count, fouls off pitches, stays within the strike zone, and puts the ball in play.
* I am the Batter that lets the 0-2 pitch hit me.
* I am the Batter that is getting better and better at reading the defense and placing the ball where I want it.
* I am the Batter that is on base for a 3-run HR.
* I am the Teammate that practices just as hard as I play, and will push those around me to do the same.
* I am the Teammate that encourages, inspires, and trusts my Teammates.
Over the last 7 years of "A" Level Travel Softball, I have played for several winning teams with great players and coaches. While I have never thrown a single pitch or hit a ball over the fence in any of those games, I feel that I have contributed to the success of every one of those teams.
