Personal Statement
My sister has almost died 57 times. Fifty-seven times she has left for the hospital and I have been unsure if I would ever see her again. What does this have to do with my softball career? Well honestly, everything. From an early age, softball became my sanctuary. Softball is where I feel the most myself. It’s where I have learned I can focus on things I have control over, such as improving my skills as a player both on and off the field, and to let go of things I can't. Softball has taught me not only to learn to rely on my team mates in times of need but has allowed me to develop the resiliency and strength to hold them up when they require the same.
While winning the Western Canadian Championship was a major goal and highlight of my softball career so far, it was simply a starting point in the hard work I have undertaken to become an athlete that will add to the success of your team. I am looking for a program that will not only allow me to continue to develop my deep love for the game, but will also continue to allow me to make an impact in the world as I pursue a career in health care. I have no doubt that I will have a positive impact on your team not just as a talented athlete, but also as a strong team mate and a hardworking student.
